What To Do After Your Subcision Appointment

First 24 Hours

  • Apply ice and gentle pressure to the treated area throughout the first day to reduce swelling and discomfort. Ice application should be done for 10 minutes at a time, 3-5 times within the first 24 hours.
  • You may shower immediately and resume normal daily activities.
  • If a scab forms, do not pick at it. Allowing the scab to fall off naturally will improve wound healing and minimize scarring.
  • Most patients experience minimal pain. If needed, take Tylenol® (acetaminophen) for discomfort and continue using ice as directed.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure, and apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) daily to protect the healing skin.

First Week

  • Keep the treated area clean and avoid applying makeup, harsh skincare products, or exfoliants.
  • Refrain from excessive sun exposure, heat, and tanning beds, as UV exposure can interfere with the healing process.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating to prevent irritation.
  • Continue applying sunscreen daily to protect the treated area and maintain long-term skin health

What to Expect and When to Seek Medical Attention

  • While mild redness, swelling, and minor bruising are normal, contact Azure Dream MedSpa or your healthcare provider if you experience:

    • Increasing pain several days after the procedure
    • Significant swelling beyond normal post-procedure expectations
    • Persistent bleeding that does not stop after applying firm pressure for 20 minutes
    • A fever above 100.5°F for more than 24 hours
    • Redness, warmth, or pus-like drainage at the treatment site

These could be signs of an infection or other complications requiring medical attention.

By following these aftercare instructions, you’ll support proper healing and achieve the best results from your subcision treatment. If you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to Azure Dream MedSpa for guidance.
