What To Do Before Your Forma Appointment

One Week Before Treatment

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds. Sunburned or irritated skin can increase the risk of complications. Always use SPF 30+ sunscreen.
  • Discontinue the use of active skincare ingredients, including retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, and exfoliants. These can make the skin more sensitive.
  • Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy skincare routine to keep your skin in its best condition before treatment.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, take an antiviral medication 24-48 hours before your appointment to prevent an outbreak.

48 Hours Before Treatment

  • Limit alcohol and caffeine intake, as they can contribute to dehydration and skin sensitivity.
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, including aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil®, Motrin®), naproxen (Aleve®), fish oil, and vitamin E, unless prescribed by your doctor.
  • Refrain from waxing, tweezing, threading, or using hair removal creams on the treatment area to prevent irritation.

Day of Treatment

  • Arrive with clean skin—do not apply makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or any skincare products.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing if treating areas beyond the face to avoid post-treatment irritation.
  • Do not shave the treatment area on the same day, as this may cause irritation.
  • Eat a light meal before your appointment to prevent lightheadedness.
  • Inform your provider of any recent health changes, including new medications, pregnancy, or medical conditions, as some may affect your treatment eligibility.
