Keep the treated area covered with Aquaphor at all times to maintain a protective barrier and prevent excessive dryness.
Expect redness, swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation. The skin may feel tight and dry.
Swelling is common, especially in the morning. Use a cold compress or ice packs for 10-15 minutes, 4-5 times a day, to help reduce swelling.
Sleep with your head elevated on pillows above the level of your heart to minimize swelling, especially around the eyes and mouth.
Avoid touching, rubbing, or picking at your skin to prevent infection and scarring.
Avoid all skincare products except those recommended by your provider. Do not apply sunscreen, makeup, or other lotions.
Days 1-3: Cleansing & Moisturizing
Always wash your hands before touching your face.
Gently cleanse the skin three times a day with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser such as Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser.
If needed, use a vinegar soak (1 teaspoon of white vinegar per 1 cup of water). Soak gauze in the solution and apply it to the skin for 5-15 minutes. This helps with pain, reduces bacteria, and dissolves any residue.
Apply a thick layer of Aquaphor after each cleanse to keep the skin hydrated and protected. Do not let the treated area dry out.
Pinpoint bleeding may occur, which is normal. If this happens, gently blot your skin—do not rub.
Avoid all exercise, heat exposure, saunas, and swimming pools during this period.
Days 4-7: Healing Process
Swelling, redness, and mild itching are normal as the skin begins to heal. Grid marks from the laser may appear but will fade over time.
On day 4, you may switch from Aquaphor to a gentle moisturizer, such as CeraVe Face Moisturizer. Do not switch if your skin is still oozing, raw, or highly sensitive.
Avoid direct sun exposure completely. Wear a protective hat if going outside, but do not apply sunscreen until cleared by your provider.
Avoid scrubbing, exfoliating, or picking at the peeling skin. Allow it to shed naturally.
Do not use makeup until your provider has evaluated your healing progress. If cleared, mineral makeup is recommended.
Once the skin has fully healed, begin wearing sunscreen (SPF 30+). Use a mineral-based sunscreen with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to prevent hyperpigmentation.
When to Expect Results
Initial skin improvements will be visible within the first few weeks, but full results will develop over 3-6 months as collagen production continues.
Redness and pinkness may last longer in some individuals, but this is a positive sign of continued skin regeneration.
For best results, multiple treatments may be needed depending on your skin concerns.
When to Contact Your Provider
