What To Do Before Your PDO Thread Appointment

First 24 Hours

  • Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated area to allow the threads to settle properly.
  • Do not wash or apply skincare products to the treated area. Washing or touching your face should be avoided for the first 12 hours.
  • Keep your head elevated, even while sleeping, to minimize swelling and discomfort. Avoid sleeping on your side or stomach for the first two weeks.
  • Cold compresses or ice packs may be applied for 10-15 minutes at a time, 4 to 5 times a day, to reduce swelling and bruising.
  • Minimize physical activity the day of and the day after your treatment to promote optimal healing.
  • Do not take aspirin or aspirin-based medications (such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or Neurofen) for at least two weeks, as these can increase bruising. Tylenol® (acetaminophen) may be taken if needed for discomfort.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol for at least one week post-treatment to reduce swelling.
  • Avoid smoking for at least 14 days, as it can slow healing and impact results.

First Week

  • Avoid wearing makeup in the treated area for at least 48 hours.
  • Avoid excessive movement in the treated area for about two weeks. Limit facial expressions and avoid yawning widely.
  • Do not use a straw and eat soft foods to minimize excessive movement in the face for at least one week.
  • Avoid chewing gum for two weeks.
  • Continue sleeping upright with your head elevated for two weeks to prevent putting pressure on the treated area.
  • Avoid strenuous activity for one week for facial treatments and two weeks for body treatments. Light walking is encouraged to support circulation.
  • Post-op painkillers are allowed if recommended by your provider.
  • Bruising and swelling are common and typically last 2-3 days. If bruising occurs, Arnica gel or vitamin K cream may help speed up the healing process.
  • Tissue asymmetry and minor irregularities may appear and usually resolve within 1-2 weeks as the threads settle.

First Month

  • Avoid pulling, massaging, scrubbing, or exfoliating your face for at least three weeks.
  • Refrain from certain aesthetic treatments, facials, or skin resurfacing procedures for at least four weeks.
  • Continue avoiding intense exercise, saunas, steam rooms, and sun exposure for at least two weeks.
  • Avoid dental work for at least two weeks to prevent excessive movement in the treated area.
  • Avoid high heat exposure, including hot showers, hot yoga, and tanning beds, as these can contribute to swelling and irritation.

When to Expect Results

  • Some immediate lifting effects may be visible right away, but the maximum results will be noticeable in 4-6 weeks as collagen production increases.
  • Bruising and swelling should improve within a few days.
  • Minor irregularities or tightness are normal and will settle as the threads integrate into the skin.
  • Pain at the injection sites is normal and may last a few days. Contact your provider if discomfort persists after two weeks.

When to Contact Your Provider

  • If you experience severe pain, excessive swelling, redness, warmth, or signs of infection.
  • If threads become visible or extrude through the skin.
  • If you develop prolonged puckering, dimpling, or uneven skin texture that does not improve over time.

By following these post-treatment instructions, you will support proper healing and achieve the best results from your PDO Thread Lift. If you have any concerns, contact Azure Dream MedSpa for further guidance.
