What To Do After PRP/PRF Appointment

First 24 Hours

  • Avoid washing or touching the treated area to allow the PRF/PRP to absorb fully into the skin.
  • Do not apply skincare products, including cleansers, moisturizers, and makeup. If necessary, makeup may be applied after 24 hours.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure, high heat, and sweating, including blow dryers, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise.
  • Refrain from taking blood thinners such as aspirin and NSAIDs for several days. Tylenol® (acetaminophen) may be used for discomfort.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours to reduce bruising risk.

First 48-72 Hours

  • Use only gentle skincare products and avoid exfoliants, retinoids, acids (AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C), and active ingredients until cleared by your provider.
  • Continue avoiding excessive sun exposure and apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily.
  • Sleep on your back with your head elevated to reduce swelling and avoid disturbing the treated area.
  • Avoid rubbing, scrubbing, or massaging the treatment area for at least two weeks.

First Two Weeks

  • No facials, facial massages, or laser treatments for two weeks after PRF/PRP injections. Treatments such as Botox® may be performed immediately before or after, but consult your provider for recommendations.
  • If you received a PRF facial (topical application), do not wash your skin for at least 5 hours. Also, avoid direct heat, sweating, and activities that get the skin wet.
  • For best results, a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart is recommended.

Long-Term Maintenance and Follow-Up

  • Results typically appear within 2-4 weeks, with continued improvement for up to 12 weeks.
  • If the desired results are not achieved, follow-up treatments may be recommended at 4-12 week intervals until the desired outcome is reached.
  • For long-term maintenance, treatments every 6-12 months may help prolong the results.
  • PRF/PRP therapy works best in combination with other treatments such as Botox®, fillers, or laser therapy to enhance anti-aging benefits.

What to Expect After Treatment

  • Temporary side effects may include redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, tingling, numbness, lumpiness, or a feeling of pressure at the injection sites. These effects typically subside within a few days.
  • Cold gel packs or ice may be gently applied immediately after treatment to reduce swelling, but do not apply ice directly to the skin.

If you experience unusual redness, prolonged swelling, or any signs of infection, contact Azure Dream MedSpa immediately. Proper aftercare will ensure a smooth recovery and long-lasting benefits from your PRF/PRP treatment.
