What To Do Before Your CO2 Laser Appointment

48 Hours Before Treatment

  • Stop using active skincare products entirely unless specifically recommended by your provider.
  • Avoid excessive heat exposure, including saunas, hot showers, and intense exercise, as these can cause inflammation.
  • If prescribed a topical numbing cream, follow your provider’s instructions on when and how to apply it before your appointment.
  • If you have a history of herpes (such as oral cold sores or genital) or shingles in your treatment area, let your healthcare provider know.
  • Stay well-hydrated and follow a healthy diet to support skin healing and improve treatment results.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, start taking an antiviral medication (such as Valtrex®) as directed by your provider to prevent an outbreak.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds. Sunburned or tanned skin can increase the risk of complications. Always use SPF 30+ sunscreen daily if you will be outdoors.

Day of Treatment

  • Arrive with clean skin. Do not apply makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or any skincare products to the treatment area.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing, especially if treating areas beyond the face.
  • Eat a light meal before your appointment to prevent dizziness or lightheadedness.
  • Plan for some downtime post-treatment, as redness, swelling, and peeling are expected.
  • Arrange for transportation if needed, especially if receiving a strong numbing agent or sedative during your procedure.
  • Inform your provider of any recent illnesses, new medications, or health changes, as these may affect your treatment eligibility.

By following these pre-treatment instructions, you will ensure a smoother procedure and better healing. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Azure Dream MedSpa before your appointment.
