Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds. Sunburned or irritated skin can increase the risk of complications. Always use SPF 30+ sunscreen.
Discontinue the use of active skincare ingredients, including retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, and exfoliants. These can make the skin more sensitive.
Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy skincare routine to keep your skin in its best condition before treatment.
If you are prone to cold sores, take an antiviral medication 24-48 hours before your appointment to prevent an outbreak.
48 Hours Before Treatment
Limit alcohol and caffeine intake, as they can contribute to dehydration and skin sensitivity.
Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, including aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil®, Motrin®), naproxen (Aleve®), fish oil, and vitamin E, unless prescribed by your doctor.
Refrain from waxing, tweezing, threading, or using hair removal creams on the treatment area to prevent irritation.
Day of Treatment
Arrive with clean skin—do not apply makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or any skincare products.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing if treating areas beyond the face to avoid post-treatment irritation.
Do not shave the treatment area on the same day, as this may cause irritation.
Eat a light meal before your appointment to prevent lightheadedness.
Inform your provider of any recent health changes, including new medications, pregnancy, or medical conditions, as some may affect your treatment eligibility.
Following these pre-treatment guidelines will help ensure a smooth procedure and optimal results. If you have any questions, contact Azure Dream MedSpa before your appointment.
