Discontinue active skincare products, including retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, and other exfoliating ingredients that may increase skin sensitivity.
Stop anticoagulants 7-10 days prior to treatment, if medically permitted.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning beds to prevent irritation and minimize the risk of post-treatment hyperpigmentation. Always wear SPF 30+ sunscreen.
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, which helps support skin healing.
48 Hours Before Treatment
If prone to cold sores, take an antiviral medication 24-48 hours before treatment to prevent an outbreak.
Limit alcohol and caffeine intake, as these can contribute to inflammation and prolonged healing.
Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, including aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil®, Motrin®), naproxen (Aleve®), fish oil, and vitamin E, unless prescribed by your doctor.
Refrain from waxing, tweezing, threading, or using hair removal creams on the treatment area to avoid additional irritation.
Day of Treatment
Arrive with clean skin—do not apply makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or any skincare products.
Wear comfortable clothing, especially if treating areas beyond the face.
Avoid shaving the treatment area on the same day, as this can cause irritation.
Eat a light meal before your appointment to avoid feeling lightheaded.
Inform your provider of any recent health changes, including new medications, pregnancy, or skin conditions, as some may affect your eligibility for treatment.
By following these pre-treatment guidelines, you will help ensure a comfortable and effective session. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Azure Dream MedSpa before your appointment.
