How does IPL work?
1. Pulsed Light Photothermolysis
Bright flashes of light deliver specific wavelengths which target red and brown pigments in the skin.
2. Melanin Breakdown
The light and heat causes these unwanted pigments to break down into smaller particles, which will slowly fade and disappear through the body's natural healing process.
3. Vibrant, Clear Skin
The remaining melanin particles rise to the skin's surface and flake away, leaving the skin smooth and clear.

Prep for your appointment
Before Treatment
- Stop using retinol at least 10 days before treatment
- Wait to book your treatment if you have had any other facial treatments done in the last 14 days.
- If you have a sunburn or fresh tan (real or sunless) wait two weeks to receive treatment.
Aftercare
- Limit sun exposure for 1 week after treatment, and wear sunscreen daily to protect your skin.
- You’ll notice dark spots rise to the surface of your skin within 1-2 days. This is a sign that the treatment is working! Allow them to flake off on their own over the next 1-2 weeks to prevent hyperpigmentation.
- Do not pick!

What to expect during your visit
Consultation
Your provider will discuss your goals and determine if the IPL Photofacial is right for you.
Treatment
During the procedure the skin is cleansed and a conductive gel is applied. Most clients report feeling mild discomfort, similar to a rubber band snap.
Recovery
Your skin will begin sloughing off two to five days after your procedure. Recovery time varies based on the intensity of the treatment and your unique skin sensitivity. Your provider can give you an estimated healing time during your consultation.
Follow Up
For best results, we often recommend completing a series of three to six IPL Photofacial treatments, or receive this treatment in tandem with other treatments. Your provider may recommend you receive your treatments as soon as four to six weeks apart.
